Background |
Site Description | The Temple of Bel stood for 2000 years in Palmyra, Syria until its destruction by ISIS in late 2015. It featured many well preserved sculptures and paintings. |
Project Description | This reconstruction uses over 900 publicly available tourist images taken between 2006 and 2011. Photos were provided by a number of sources, including #NewPalmyra, Oxford University, and the Roman Society's Imago Database. Images were masked in Agisoft Metashape, removing skies, vegetation, and tourists. The model was processed with Reality Capture. |

Reuse Score | C - Non-Metric Model |
Curator Notes | This model does not contain scaling information, and also contains a number of uncalibrated cameras, which have been found to cause some significant deformation on the northern interior (20cm). It should be referenced against other scaled sources.
